Customers have their rights – ‘dispute’ with broadband & phone line provider

Very often bank holiday weekends are an opportunity for us to catch up with our paperwork, sort out our mail, contact our family and friends. All this is possible if our phone line or broadband connection don’t get cut off unexpectedly. This is what happened to us at the beginning of a long weekend in August last year.

First we noticed that our broadband wasn’t working, then it turned out our phone line went dead. The same afternoon we received a text message from a family member asking why we had changed our phone number??? Apparently when dialling our landline number, the phone was being answered by a stranger. It was too much. The only option we had was to contact the provider using our mobile phones, we managed to get through to the customer service department (situated in Kolkata, India!!!).

Mr & Mrs Anybody

At our drop-in centre, which is open Mon-Fri 9am to 4pm, we deal with a range of problems that clients bring to us and take a pride in trying our best to find a solution to the problem. One of the biggest problems that we find is that the client has ignored the problem when it first surfaced and as a result it just got worse and worse resulting, sometimes, in considerable financial loss. Please, for your own sake and that of your loved ones, face up to each problem as it presents itself and if you should not be able to find a satisfactory solution then visit our offices and talk to our staff who, during the past years, have advised on most types of problems that life can throw at us.
