The Magic of Christmas at St Mary’s Fire Station

Once again, SOS Polonia visited the “Magic of Christmas” party at St Mary’s fire station in Southampton.

We enjoyed carols from countries near and far, fabulously colourful pastries, hand-made decorations for the Christmas tree and more! This is only part of the description of a festive event organised on 9th December 2017 by the Southampton Central Neighbourhood Policing Team along with the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Local community organisations also participated – among them, SOS Polonia. At our table, adults and children had fun making paper chains to decorate their Christmas trees. Colourful hair braiding was enjoyed by the girls (and slightly older girls!).
Of course, the greatest attraction for children was Father Christmas, who greeted them with presents in his snowy grotto. Santa’s helpers for the day were our local firefighters and policemen who, together with the sponsors, prepared and handed out nearly 400 presents. Anyone who might have been a little too old to get a present from Saint Nick still had the chance to win a super gift in a prize raffle.
